Our first “Rescue”

We are coming up to the end of our 2nd week, Things are going way better that what we started with. . . Happy to report that our first goals for these animals are being met fully and the birds are now starting to show great signs of growth both size and weight. The diet we have set for them is some chopped blueberries, a kale leaf, a lettuce leaf, Flock raiser crumble feed, dead but wet meal worms in a can. . . I was suprised that it came in a can honestly. we do crumble the feed extra to make sure no chance of choking since, just becasue I did learn “CPR” for birds id rather not have to use that skill if i can help it.

Now it is time to start planning and building larger enclosures for these birds, we are adding an outdoor enclosure so they can get used to being outside again while still being protected from predators.

We still have quite a few weeks left untill we can successfully release them back into nature so the design we have to use has to be long term and preferably easy to clean.

We are offering this as a quick easy project for kids to also participate in if they want to try it out but these are wild ducks so things have to be a bit different than a pet duck you would buy from tractor supply.
