Dream of A Market

So maybe I am only confused because of what you can see in movies and shows. I have always loved the idea of those outdoor markets that they have like everywhere except Montana since we have the yuckie cold weather, a small variety of what we can grow outdoors and a short growing season. The limits are constant and consistent but we are working hard here at the OHH office to help change that.

With so many limits because of our location, We do have to face the fact that this will NOT be an easy task but we want to make this happen in ours and surrounding communities. It’s time to take some notes from the past.(notice I said make it happen not “try to”)

We do have a local farmers market that usually happens every Saturday during the warm months, and it is absolutely fabulous to visit since they always have amazing products, excellent quality and the most delicious kitchen goodies.

My heart aches a little bit still. Even though our farmers market is truly excellent and the variety is great, you can find so many cool thing. . . Its not big enough and its not quite like the ones on tv or on the google. See my examples pulled from google below so you can see what I am talking about.

I have never traveled the world and I honestly never have had time to with kids and all of the pets and projects. . to travel I would have to find a very, very responsible and trustworthy person who could basically step in and be me for the days that we would be gone and it’s way too much to ask of someone to come in and do everything we do in a day around OHH.

It seems all of the big places have the most beautiful open markets for people to buy fresh produce that is not in a grocery store. people packed into a grocery store or people packed in at a city market. . I would rather buy my fresh stuff from the producer not the chain store but here that is kind of hard to do because our weather is too cold to provide a good variety including citrus and warm climate garden foods.

I am stubborn enough that i want to learn and do this correctly to bring fresh market options to our cold cold home state. . I cant do it all on my own so I will need help cuz that a lot of plants to cover but once I get it all figured out, worked out, built and tested. . . you bet we are gonna get things happening here in our state. I will be posting the progress of this new big, big project as we go but the groundwork has to be brought to the page so that is our first step.

Warning : Projects like this do not happen overnight so our next post on this might happen in a month or maybe two just because of where we live.

This is my Biggest “Worldwide” ask I believe that this one thing could be great accomplishment for All of us. It could be the movement this world needs right now, Our shot to help our environment and get good food back into our lives. To not depend on the grocery markets for every single thing. Not just us that live this way, I am talking to everyone, everywhere. It is gonna take work and some of that work is gonna be really hard but well that’s kind of the point to work hard to help out to make your own community a better place even if it is just a tiny way of helping.
