The hardest parts about this activity is that you have to be 21+ to buy the alcohol, and since we live in the middle of Montana amazon is honestly a godsend to get bulk good quality vanilla beans in a short time frame(I have affairs with amazon shopping app on a regular during the year).

At the grocery stores here it’s like $8.00 for a jar that has 2 sad vanilla beans in it. Cinnamon sticks are not outrageously priced here so that is not a valid complainable point, at least for now.

In our case we used higher grade vodka since its clear and you can watch the progress as it “brews”.
I made a large batch of vanilla in amber colored bottles and. . . . I do not like the fact that I could not see the progress and had to guess timing based on smell and flavor. I feel that with as many times as i had to open the bottles to check them, in turn the brew is not as good as it could be(still fabulous but could it be better?).
More vanilla is brewing in the original vodka bottle and I am out of any extra to make more or fill my now half empty bottles so a trip to the liquor store is needed.
We have plenty of cinnamon extract so we have wait till we find a big use for it but i’m working on it.
