Garden Starting

In life so far I have learned that it is better to start your planning early so you can calculate the messes and the hiccups that inevitably come with every single thing you try to do.

Planning a garden for a family of roughly 7 or 8 give or take if we have visitors or not, not to mention the extra so the pets get treats also. . .they need to be spoiled to ya know.

Here in Montana we might not be able to put our garden plants into the ground until like mid april at the very soonest, but . . .there is always a but. . .we do start the plants indoors in like end of february to early march.

The kiddos are still young enough to be on the pickier side when it comes to fruit and vegetables, so since picking out fruits and veggies at the grocery store has not worked to convince them to eat healthy foods.

Of course having picky kids makes this a bit of a challenge so we are going to plant things that they actually will eat as well as a few fruit plants to help them understand growing food and home grown is way better than bulk that you find at the grocery store. . We do not use pesticides here on behalf of the local pollinators and our own private beehives have helped our neighbors to stop pesticide use as well.

I am honestly hoping that mass growing our own produce this year will help them both to want to eat good foods not just junk and snack stuff.

As soon as seeds are available at tractor supply we are heading up to grab one of everything and get the ball rolling. If we want a huge garden we have to start a bigger than huge garden. So in the case that we have problems, we have a backup plan and won’t be cut short on what we need.

This project is planned with a low low cost in mind, we will be searching locally to find free or very low priced items to build literally everything.

Check in next week to see our designs and plans for this garden.
