Fall tree starting

I saw a seed starting video on facebook from one of my homesteading idols and he used like 7 or 8 of the big 5 gallon buckets and sand to start tree seedlings over the winter.

With bigger buckets you can produce 1,000’s at a time, but we are small and just getting started with just under 100.

I used an icecream bucket and layers of kids play sand. I used a papertowel under everything to hold more moisture to keep the plants hydrated during our cold yuckie montana winters. . .These came from Montana trees so we shouldn’t have any problems in the aspect of extreme cold temperatures.

We do invest into this massive project but we are trying to build everything up from the ground and trying to get by with finding what is laying around my hobby collection pile or find free or very cheaply priced.

A homestead no matter the size should not cost a fortune to get results.. . . You Do NOT need the fancy equipment when the lower price not as shiny things will do just fine. . . You want profit not debt.
